
The workshop main goal is to reach a consensus on the implementation plan for the proposed expansion of the information center and system, to raise awareness of concerned institutions in Sudan on potentials of food security and nutrition information and knowledge network concept to strengthen communication and linkages between food security and nutrition specialists, researchers and their national institutions in Sudan through Knowledge, Information and Communication Management Systems, to facilitate exchange of information through the development of an information system for the collection and dissemination of information on advances in food security and nutrition results, and to adapt the food security and nutrition information and knowledge network to needs of the country.
In addition it will also lead to human capacity development in Sudan in the field of Information and Communication Management and Networking. More particularly, the workshop aims to achieve the following objectives

Reach a consensus between stakeholders on the implementation plan for the proposed expansion of the information center and system, following a participatory approach in discussion.

Raise awareness on National Food and Nutrition Security Information and Knowledge Sharing System/Platform (FSIS) as Knowledge Exchange and Information Management System and existing potentials for improving linkages between Food Security experts and researchers and stakeholders using ICM tools, and achieve better understanding of the concept, structure and management of FSIS as information and knowledge sharing network, and for facilitating exchange of information through the development of a thematic knowledge and information network/system for the collection, management and dissemination of information on advances in Food Security and Nutrition results

Build capacity of FSTS experts, researchers and specialists in Food Security in knowledge sharing tools and applications, and to create a single access point where the different states in Sudan can share a united vision of the Food Security and Nutrition policies, regulations, research and innovations.

Train participants on how to operate and use the various modules in the National Food Security and Knowledge Sharing Information System/Platform (FSIS) as information exchange and knowledge sharing thematic network,

Participants will learn lessons learned and good practices in establishing and development Food Security Information System/Platform (FSIS) as thematic knowledge network at national level and will experience the operational and modality of thematic knowledge network at national level.

Adapt the prototype of National Food and Nutrition Security Information and Knowledge Sharing System/Platform (FSIS) to the needs of participating states, following a participatory approach in discussion.

Identify new components, if any, and outline of the National Food Security Information and Knowledge Sharing System (FSIS) as information exchange and knowledge sharing network for strengthening agriculture and food security in Sudan.
